AI Assistants (MCP)

Let your AI assistant work directly in Valiyou — import reports into Valuations, register sponsorship contracts, and review drafts using natural language. Valiyou’s MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration connects Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI assistants securely to your organization with your own login and permissions.

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to tools like Valiyou. Once connected, your assistant can read and manage your Valiyou data on your behalf — always limited by your own permissions. What your AI assistant can do:
  • 📄 Import reports: Give it a report or spreadsheet and it extracts the metrics and creates a draft valuation
  • 🤝 Register sponsorship contracts: It reads a contract, creates the sponsor, and sets up the package with price and period
  • ✅ Review drafts: It lists draft valuations, summarizes them, and approves after your confirmation
  • 📊 Inventory overview: It summarizes your sponsorship items, categories, tiers, and events
  • 📁 Organize documents: It lists your documents and folders, fetches download links, and organizes documents into folders
  • ✉️ Send proposals: It emails a sponsorship proposal to the sponsor’s contacts (admin toggle required)
  • 📈 Analytics: It summarizes your sponsorship revenue trend, package pipeline, and top sponsors (Enterprise plan)
Your permissions apply: The AI assistant acts with YOUR login. It can only see and change what you can see and change in Valiyou. Demo organizations are not accessible to AI assistants.

Accessing the MCP Integration

Navigate to Platform → API / MCP from the sidebar, then open the MCP tab.
Permission Required: API permission or Admin access is required to view the MCP page. The delete and send-proposal toggles require Admin access.

Connecting Your AI Assistant

Sign-in happens securely in your browser via OAuth — no API key is needed. Your assistant opens the Valiyou login page, you approve access, and the connection is ready. MCP Endpoint:

Claude.ai / Claude Desktop

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Click Add custom connector
  3. Paste the endpoint URL: https://valiyou.io/api/mcp
  4. Approve the login in your browser

ChatGPT (web & desktop app)

  1. Open Settings → Connectors → Advanced
  2. Enable Developer mode
  3. Back in Connectors, choose Create
  4. Paste the endpoint URL: https://valiyou.io/api/mcp
  5. Approve the login in your browser
ChatGPT plan required: Custom connectors require a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise plan.

Claude Code (terminal)

Then run /mcp inside Claude Code and complete the browser login.

Other AI assistants

Any assistant supporting remote MCP servers works — add a remote (Streamable HTTP) MCP server pointing at https://valiyou.io/api/mcp and approve the login.

AI Instructions (Copy & Paste)

The MCP tab includes a ready-made AI instructions card — a short guide you can copy into your assistant so it understands how Valiyou works. Where to paste it:
  • ChatGPT: Settings → Personalization → Custom instructions (or into a ChatGPT Project)
  • Claude: Into a Claude Project’s instructions
Claude gets guidance automatically: Claude receives Valiyou’s built-in instructions when it connects, so pasting is optional. For ChatGPT, pasting the instructions is recommended — it significantly improves how well the assistant understands Valiyou.

What the AI Can Do

Valuations

  • List and view valuations: Browse valuations with status and date filters, see full details including player sales and status history
  • Create draft valuations: Extract metrics from reports and create drafts — never approved automatically
  • Update and approve: Edit draft fields, and approve drafts (only with approver permission, and only after you confirm)

Partnerships & Sponsorships

  • Sponsors: List sponsors, view details with contacts and packages, create and update sponsors
  • Packages: List sponsorship packages, create and update them, approve or reject (admin/approver only)
  • Inventory: Get a full overview of items, availability, categories, tiers, and events
  • Proposals: Email a package proposal (with its PDF link) to the sponsor’s contacts — only when the send-proposal toggle is enabled (see below)
  • Analytics: Revenue trend, package pipeline, top sponsors, and a revenue summary (Enterprise plan)

Documents

  • Browse: List documents and the full folder structure, filter by folder or document type
  • Download links: Get a secure, time-limited download link for uploaded files
  • Organize: Create folders, rename documents, and move documents between folders (uploading files happens in the Valiyou app, not via MCP)

Organization Context (Read-Only)

The assistant automatically reads your organization’s context when it connects, so its answers match how your organization works:
  • Master data: Registered address and company/CVR (VAT) number — only visible if your user can view the Organisation page in Valiyou
  • Terminology: Your label aliases, so the assistant uses your industry’s terms
  • Locale: Language, date format, number format, and timezone — numbers and dates are formatted your way
  • Base currency: All monetary amounts are presented in your organization’s base currency
  • Brand defaults: The 0–10 default brand scores pre-filled on new valuations
Read-only: AI assistants can read these settings but never change them. Changing settings, API keys, or billing always happens in the Valiyou app.

Ready-made prompts (Claude)

Valiyou ships four ready-made prompts that appear in Claude’s prompt picker (and as slash commands in Claude Code) once connected:
  • Import report to valuations — extract metrics from a report and create a draft valuation
  • Register sponsorship contract — create the sponsor and package from a contract
  • Review draft valuations — summarize drafts and approve after your confirmation
  • Inventory overview — see items, availability, categories, tiers, and events
ChatGPT connectors do not support MCP prompts — use the copy-paste AI instructions above instead.

Built-in safeguards

  • ✅ New valuations are always created as drafts — approval requires your explicit confirmation
  • ✅ The assistant uses your organization’s terminology (label aliases) and locale settings
  • ✅ Demo organizations are not accessible via MCP
  • ✅ Deleting records is off by default (see below)
  • ✅ Sending proposals to sponsors is off by default (see below)
  • ✅ Every change the assistant makes is recorded in your audit log, marked as made via MCP — so you can always see whether a change came from a person in the app or an AI assistant
  • ✅ Organization settings are read-only — the assistant can read them but never change them

Allowing Deletion (Admin Setting)

By default, AI assistants cannot delete anything in Valiyou — delete attempts are blocked with a clear message. An Admin can enable deletion per organization:
  1. Navigate to Platform → API / MCP → MCP tab
  2. Find the Allow deletion via MCP toggle (red card)
  3. Switch it on
Deletion is permanent: When enabled, the AI assistant can permanently delete valuations, sponsors, packages, documents, and folders (deleting a sponsor also deletes its packages). Assistants are instructed to always confirm with you first, but we recommend keeping this off unless you actively need it.

Allowing Proposal Sending (Admin Setting)

By default, AI assistants cannot send sponsorship proposals — proposal emails go to real sponsor contacts, so sending is blocked until an Admin enables it. An Admin can enable proposal sending per organization:
  1. Navigate to Platform → API / MCP → MCP tab
  2. Find the Send proposals via MCP toggle (purple card)
  3. Switch it on
Emails go to your sponsors: When enabled, the AI assistant can email a package proposal (with its PDF link) directly to the sponsor’s contacts and set the package to pending approval. Assistants are instructed to always confirm with you first before sending.

Permissions

The AI assistant is always limited by the connected user’s permissions:

Common Use Cases

Import a Report into Valuations

  1. Connect your assistant (see above)
  2. Give it a report or spreadsheet: “Import this report into Valiyou as a valuation”
  3. The assistant extracts the financial and media metrics and shows them to you
  4. It creates a draft valuation
  5. Review the draft in Valiyou — or ask the assistant to approve it once you’re satisfied

Register a Sponsorship Contract

  1. Give the assistant the contract: “Register this sponsorship contract in Valiyou”
  2. It extracts the sponsor’s company details and checks for duplicates
  3. It creates the sponsor and the package with the price and period from the contract

Review Draft Valuations

  1. Ask: “Show me my draft valuations in Valiyou”
  2. The assistant lists and summarizes each draft
  3. Say which ones to approve — it approves only after your confirmation

Send a Sponsorship Proposal

  1. Make sure an Admin has enabled the Send proposals via MCP toggle
  2. Ask: “Send the proposal for the Main Sponsor package to the sponsor”
  3. The assistant confirms the package and recipients with you, then emails the proposal with its PDF link
  4. The package moves to pending approval — the sponsor approves or rejects via the link

Get a Sponsorship Overview

  1. Ask: “How is our sponsorship revenue developing this year?”
  2. The assistant fetches the revenue trend, package pipeline, and top sponsors and summarizes them (requires the Enterprise plan)

Troubleshooting

The connection fails or asks me to log in repeatedly

Reasons:
  • Browser blocked the login popup
  • You declined the consent screen
Fix:
  • Allow popups for your assistant’s site and retry
  • Remove the connector and add it again, approving all requested access

The assistant says it doesn’t have permission

Reasons:
  • Your Valiyou user lacks the required permission (e.g., approver)
  • Your organization is a demo organization (not accessible via MCP)
Fix:
  • Ask an Admin to grant the permission under Platform → Users
  • Upgrade from demo mode to a paid plan to enable MCP access

The assistant can’t delete anything

Reason: Deletion via MCP is off by default. Fix: An Admin can enable the Allow deletion via MCP toggle on the MCP tab — see Allowing Deletion.

The assistant can’t send proposals

Reason: Proposal sending via MCP is off by default. Fix: An Admin can enable the Send proposals via MCP toggle on the MCP tab — see Allowing Proposal Sending.

ChatGPT doesn’t show the connector option

Reasons:
  • Free ChatGPT plan (connectors require Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise)
  • Developer mode not enabled
Fix:
  • Upgrade your ChatGPT plan
  • Enable Developer mode under Settings → Connectors → Advanced

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The connection uses OAuth — the industry-standard login flow — so the assistant never sees your password. It acts with your own permissions, so it can never do more than you can. New valuations are always created as drafts, deletion is off by default, and demo organizations are not accessible at all.
Claude (Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code), ChatGPT (Plus, Pro, Team, and Enterprise plans), and any other assistant that supports remote MCP servers. All connect to the same endpoint: https://valiyou.io/api/mcp.
No. The assistant is instructed to only approve valuations after your explicit confirmation, and approval additionally requires that your Valiyou user has the approver permission. Everything it creates starts as a draft.
Not by default. Deletion via MCP is blocked until an Admin enables the “Allow deletion via MCP” toggle on the MCP tab. Even then, the assistant needs the same edit permissions as in the app and is instructed to confirm with you before deleting anything.
Not by default. Sending proposals via MCP is blocked until an Admin enables the “Send proposals via MCP” toggle on the MCP tab. When enabled, the assistant can email a package proposal to the sponsor’s contacts — it is instructed to confirm the package and recipients with you first.
No. Uploading files is not possible via MCP — uploads happen in the Valiyou app. The assistant can list documents and folders, fetch download links for uploaded files, and organize documents (create folders, rename, move).
The AI instructions card on the MCP tab contains a short guide explaining Valiyou to your assistant. Claude receives equivalent guidance automatically when it connects. For ChatGPT, copying the instructions into Custom instructions or a Project is recommended for the best results.
Yes. Every change an AI assistant makes goes through the same audit trail as changes made in the app — who, what, which fields changed, and when. Audit entries are marked as made via MCP, so on the Audit page you can always distinguish changes made by a person in the app from changes made by an AI assistant on someone’s behalf.
No. Organization settings (terminology, locale, currency, brand defaults) and master data (address, CVR/VAT number) are read-only for AI assistants. Reading master data additionally requires that your user can view the Organisation page. Changing settings, API keys, or billing always happens in the Valiyou app.
Yes. The assistant reads your organization’s label aliases and locale settings, so it uses your industry’s terminology and formats numbers and dates the way your organization does.
Remove the connector in your assistant’s settings (e.g., ChatGPT Settings → Connectors, or Claude Settings → Connectors). The assistant immediately loses access.
